NHS Right to Choose ADHD Providers
Around 22 independent providers hold an NHS contract to assess ADHD and autism in England. This is who they are, who they assess, and where to read each one’s current waiting time. Free, and there is nothing to sign up for.
Why we don’t print a wait time next to each provider
Because the numbers going round are contradictory. The same provider is currently quoted as “10 to 12 months” on one comparison site and “32 to 40 weeks” on another. Waits also change every month and differ by ICB, so a provider that is fastest in one area may be paused in yours. Every provider publishes its own figure. We link you straight to it, because that is the only number worth acting on.

Check your area first
Picking a provider is the second question. The first is whether your ICB is funding Right to Choose at all right now. Several have capped activity for 2026/27, which means a provider may accept your referral but hold it in a queue rather than book a date. It is still worth getting the referral sent — waiting until a pause lifts puts you at the back of a new queue.
Ask the provider this before your GP appointment
Call or email the provider first. If you walk into your GP appointment with these answers, the referral can go the same day.
- Do you currently accept Right to Choose referrals from patients in my ICB?
- Are you open or paused for my area right now?
- If you are paused, will you still accept the referral and hold my place in the queue?
- What is the current wait for assessment once I am in the queue?
- Do you have a shared care agreement with my ICB for ADHD medication?
- What does the assessment involve, and how many sessions is it?

The ADHD and Autism Pack
The list above is free and always will be. What the pack adds is the paperwork: referral letters for ADHD and autism citing the right NICE guidance, an evidence checklist, a word-for-word script for the common GP objections, and a formal escalation letter if you are refused without a clinical reason.
See what’s in the packShorterWait is not affiliated with any provider listed and receives no payment or commission from them. Provider details were last reviewed in September 2026. Always confirm current status with the provider before asking your GP for a referral. This is information, not medical advice.
